I want to express my gratitude to the local Democratic committees for their relentless efforts to support my candidacy, as well as the candidacy of my fellow Democrats. Without your help, we would not have accomplished nearly as much as we did.
For the first time in 12 years, the citizens of the 24th Senate District had a choice on Election Day. My campaign from the beginning was about making our voices heard. With all your help, our voices have been heard, and with a Democratic General Assembly, they will be put into action.
Despite always being an underdog, we never stopped believing and all of you never stopped believing in us. Despite limited resources we were still taken as a serious contender for this race, and helped put the rural democratic movement on the map.
The effects of this will reach far beyond our district. By competing on all fronts we helped to turn our state blue. We are now able to protect redistricting from Republican gerrymandering to keep our elections fair for another decade. More importantly, we have shown the Commonwealth and the country that rural Democrats can compete, and we can do so on true progressive values.
All of YOU did this. While much is made of the efforts a candidate puts in, we are nothing without our foundation of supporters. It is your endless devotion to change that made any of this possible. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Let’s enjoy a brief vacation until we start again in 2020.
